Trinacria between Fire and Sea

Size: 2X 18X13; 1 30x24

The Trinacria, symbol of Sicily, is shaped in the head of a mythological Gorgon, daughter of sea’s Gods, capable to petrify just with a sight. The hairs are snakes bounded with corn, to symbolise the fertility of the earth, she got golden wings and 3 bended legs to represent the strength of the 3 extreme promontories of the island. In this tryptic she is represented watched over by two folkloristic defenders ‘Paladini’, representing the Mediterranean Sea and the Volcano Etna
