An old story says that during the year 1100 in Palermo a Sicilian girl fell in love with a Turkish boy.
When she discovered the man had already a family and was about to leave her, she cut his head off during the night and used it as a vase where to plant her beloved flowers, so to keep him always with her.
Her plants started being so flourishing that all the city wanted to have similar head-shaped vases in their gardens.
